Date Night in Austin
It’s date night in the culture capital of the south. Austin is bursting with opportunities, and plenty of places to go, almost too many places, especially if you’re looking for something a little off center of typical. Here are our suggestions for a memorable date night in ATX!
Olamaie is the perfect place to take your southern belle or beau. They are famous for their biscuits, but their large menu of southern staples with a twist has made them iconic in Austin. Just make sure you grab a reservation a few days in advance!
Located on a gorgeous Victorian estate, Mattie’s is the perfect place to wow your date! Grab some classic American fare and cocktails and sit on the porch under the huge oak trees. Dinner on the patio among the peacocks is sure to leave an impression, not to mention the food is fabulous! (They are also famous for their biscuits. We might have a biscuit fetish)
As amazing as it would be, most of us can’t whisk our SO to Paris on a whim. Le Politique will leave them feeling like you have! This dreamy French bistro has all the charm of a Parisian café, with the punch of flavor the south is known for. Leave your date feeling like you’ve just strolled through the Champs-Élysées, deep to the heart of Texas.

This is the premiere boutique drive in with two screens, and small lot sizes. They only allow 30-50 cars per evening, meaning the screen is always visible and the atmosphere is private. Their specialty is nostalgia, with all their features being classics, childhood faves, or cult classics. Definitely a unique evening.
Why just settle for a movie? The Paramount is a historic part of Austin’s down town scene, and offers acts of all kinds. Films, lectures, comedy shows, art performances, musical acts, if it can be on a stage or a screen you can find it at the Paramount. This is a great place to include in your down town date itinerary! Keep the nostalgic feels going with their classic movie series this summer!
You can tell a lot about a date by how they handle competition. This north Austin hidden gem is a great way to spend some time together in a new way. The dark, intimate atmosphere is a perfect mood setter, and their huge library of games means there is sure to be something to interest you. The have a great menu full of punny names and STRONG drinks.
Pic-Nic at Zilker
Zilker Park is iconic to Austin, and is a common place to toss a frisbee, walk the dog, or catch some live music. It’s also a great place to take a date! Skip the stuffiness of a sit down dinner and grab some of your fave takeout and a cute blanket. If you plan it right, you may even be able to catch the bats taking flight from congress bridge! An evening cruise along the river might even be the perfect way to finish a stint at zilker. You can read more about our recommendations for that here.
