I’m Maddy. I moved to Paris several years ago to study and travel more frequently. I had never left the country until I was 14 years old, but ever since that first trip to Europe I was hooked on traveling. Little did I know, just five years later I would be living in the place I first visited. I was born and raised in Austin, Texas, but it wasn’t until I moved to Paris that I discovered my passion for photography, exploring new places, and connecting with other cultures. One night while sitting in a Parisian cafe, the idea for Jet Journal came to me. I personally wanted a platform to share all of my experiences, not just my highlights, and this is how Jet Journal started. I hope that the app will be a platform where users can find value in other people’s experiences and share their own stories, because everyone has something to share.

I was born and raised in the suburbs of Paris, but it wasn’t until I was older that I started to explore my city, other countries in Europe and beyond. I recently moved to Austin, Texas where we’re establishing and growing Jet Journal. Living in Austin is awesome because I love spending time outside and experiencing new things. As the co-founder of Jet Journal you can find me working on the servers, helping with the French market, and wearing any hat the start-up requires!

I’m the other Madi. When I was eight my aunt showed me pictures from her recent trip to Paris. I fell in love that day and realized there was a whole world I was missing in my small home town. When I was sixteen that same Aunt took me to Paris for the first time, and this only strengthened my appetite for the world. From study abroads to trips with friends I took every opportunity to get out and see everything I could. After uni I moved to Ulsan, South Korea to work as an English teacher and galavant across Asia. I know first hand the struggles of being somewhere new, not knowing the language, and struggling to decide what to see and where to go as well as wanting to share everything I was experiencing, but not having the means to express myself on a platform I felt comfortable with. I believe in Jet Journal, and it’s goal to bring real experiences to real people by those really living them, because that’s what I wanted and didn’t have. I am so fortunate to help bring this to our community, and to combine my love of travel and design every day.
